ITW Food Equipment Group is proud to announce the fourth winner of the Save Your Kitchen 2020 campaign sweepstakes. The Sparta R-III School District, in Sparta, Missouri, won by random selection in October, the final of four drawings for 2020 in honor of National School Lunch Week.
The Sparta R-III School District is a public school that has 749 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. The school’s middle school will be receiving a new Traulsen milk cooler for its 230 students in grades 5-8. According to the Sparta R-III School District Foodservice Director Laurent Watts, the product is badly needed.
“When it comes to our kitchens, all of our equipment is 20-50 years old. The cooking equipment is oldest at our elementary school, but space and cooling equipment is very limited at the middle school,” Watts said. “We chose the Traulsen 8 crate Milk Cooler because it solves our most urgent issue.”
Easy to maintain
This fifth iteration of the popular K-12 kitchen equipment makeover initiative kicked off in February of this year in anticipation of National School Breakfast Week. Save Your Kitchen provides free Traulsen and Hobart kitchen equipment to four winning sweepstake entrants in four different drawings throughout the year.
For their Traulsen prize choice, the Sparta R-III School District selected the 8 crate Milk Cooler which is a top-mounted, forced-air refrigeration system that makes it easy to maintain a consistent and safe temperature throughout the cabinet. The cooler combines innovation, accessibility and durability for a product that will serve them for years to come. The low-access-height design makes this the easiest milk cooler to use and for the staff to load. The top-breathing refrigeration also makes it easier to service and picks up less floor debris.
“Being able to provide equipment to schools who really need it is what makes this campaign such a great success every year,” said Hailey Elting, Business Development Manager and K-12 Specialist at Traulsen. “This sweepstakes is just one way we can engage with schools and start to help them upgrade their current equipment. Keeping their ingredients safe and students well fed is our number one goal.”
Laurent Watts added, “Since I’ve been in this school district, we have been moving away from pre-processed and highly processed cooking to scratch cooking so we can better control the nutrition for our students. We were blown away by this gift from Traulsen which will help us keep more ingredients cold and safe. Earlier in my career, I worked in the restaurant industry and I know firsthand the quality of Traulsen equipment, and I swear by its performance. It is a blessing for our school to now have our very own Traulsen cooler.”
