Convotherm is delighted to announce that this year it has received first place in the ‘Lean and Green Management Awards’ for its entry into the ‘General Production Industry – Small to Midsized Operations’ category. The ‘Lean and Green Management Award’ is an initiative launched and run by Growtth Consultants Europe and looks to provide a platform for and encourage businesses to showcase and develop their green credentials. 31 companies from 10 countries within Europe participated in this years’ awards, which recognises the most successful approaches to improving resource efficiencies.
Amongst these entrants, Convotherm took top spot in its category following a winning entry detailing Convotherm’s unparalleled results in improving resource efficiency and reducing waste throughout the entire facility. These green initiatives stretch across the production plant and the administrative offices based in Eglfing, Germany. What’s more, Convotherm’s dedication to minimising energy and water consumption has continued as far as into the actual products being manufactured within the factory facility. Utilising its extensive know-how in energy and water efficiency, Convotherm has built this into its line of award-winning combi steamers. The Convotherm 4 product family features a water saving recirculation system for cleaning, as well as the optimised Advanced Closed System (ACS+) to help customers reduce their energy consumption too.
A commitment to sustainability

For over 15 years, the Convotherm factory and offices in Eglfing, Germany has been at the forefront of ensuring the environment is a priority. It was one of the first companies in Germany to successfully comply with the ISO 12001 environmental standard in 2000. In 2010, the production site met all of its heating needs through a nearby biomass heating plant cooperative. Two years later, Convotherm earned certification in the ISO 50001 energy management standard and was also awarded first place in the ‘Sustainable Catering Equipment Manufacturer’ category at the Footprint Awards. The most recent practice put in place to reinforce its green status, include avoiding on-peak times to optimise production capacity lowering compressed air losses by 30%.
