FCSI TA Mourns the loss of a Member Allan P. King Jr., Principal, Allan King and Friends July 30, 1941 - March 1, 2012 Allan King passed away at age 70 at his residence in Reno, Nevada. He is survived by his children Gregory King of Reno, Nevada, Jeffrey King of Roseville, California, and Lorrie Adams (Jerry) of Reno, Nevada; step-children Christopher Blair of Manhattan, Nevada, and Lise Crittenden (Scott) of Irmo, South Carolina; a sister, Elizabeth King of Carson City, Nevada and her son Scott King; one grandchild, Will Crittenden; and his beloved pet Zachary. He was preceded in death by his wife Wendy and parents Allan Sr. and Janie King. Allan was in the foodservice industry for over 40 years. He began his career in the 1960's as a draftsman for a restaurant supply house and went on to found his design consulting firm, Allan King and Friends, in 1979. He was a member of FCSI for many years and had earned the CFSP designation from NAFEM. His clients included many of the major hotel-casinos in Nevada, as well as numerous correctional facilities, schools, hospitals, convention centers, and restaurants. Among the honors he received were Restaurant Hospitality Magazine's "Excellence in Kitchen Design" award for Steven Lake Tahoe restaurant, Incline Village, Nevada and a National Historic Preservation award for his work for the Eureka Opera House in Eureka, Nevada. Allan had been in poor health in recent years and was semi-retired at the time of his death. He will be interred in the Rose Garden at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, Nevada. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the FCSI Educational Foundation, your local animal shelter, or other favorite charity. April 19-21, 2012

The Americas Quarterly From Design consultants, we are looking for quality foodservice designs that combine the highest aesthetic with superb, innovative functionality. From MAS consultants, we are looking for descriptions of how your unique, well-executed management advisory plans achieved and even exceeded clients’ goals. Submissions are limited to one entry per Professional or Senior Associate FCSI member. You must be a member of FCSI - The Americas Division to enter. Eligibility Any foodservice facility or MAS project designed and/or implemented by an FCSI professional or senior associate member between Jan. 1, 2010 and Jan. 1, 2012. The project must have been completed/operational prior to Jan. 1, 2012. How To Enter First, let us know your intention to enter. Contact Beth Lorenzini and ask for an Entry Application; specify if you need one for a Design project or one for an MAS project, or both.
