Rational presents SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses

Rational presented its latest innovation to dealers and kitchen designers on 12 May 2014. The SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses is the first intelligent cooking system that senses, recognises, thinks ahead, learns from chefs and even communicates with them. The world market leader for professional cooking appliances was thus once again able to set a new performance standard in industrial and commercial kitchens.

With the SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses, Rational has succeeded in making even more significant improvements in the interplay between the chef and the kitchen technology. “It was important for us to develop technology that supports chefs, works for them, understands them, knows what they need and always and consistently delivers the desired results according to their specifications,” explains Lee Norton, Director of Rational in Great Britain.

The product leader has therefore now equipped its SelfCookingCenter® with five senses and has developed the cooking appliance into an intelligent cooking system, which once more simplifies processes in industrial kitchens and also brings the cooking quality to an even higher level.

The five senses of the SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses

Using sophisticated sensors, the SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses senses the current cooking chamber conditions and the consistency of the food. It recognises the size, load quantity and condition of your products and calculates the appropriate browning by itself. It thinks ahead by determining the ideal cooking path to the desired result, i.e. the manner in which a product must be cooked, during the cooking process itself. It learns which cooking habits you prefer and implements them. It also communicates with the chef and continually shows him what it is doing to implement his specifications.

“This makes the SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses the first cooking system fitted with real intelligence. Because it makes decisions by itself and even communicates these,” says Norton. But only the chef decides the final result for the food. “It was important for us, the chef to be always the one who decides on the result. The SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses merely implements his wishes, though perfectly, as a reliable assistant”, adds Norton.

With numerous applications for Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Latin American cuisine, Rational was also able to significantly increase international diversity. There are also extensive innovations in baking. “We have equipped the SelfCookingCenter® 5 Senses with all major functions so that all baked goods look and taste like they come from the baker’s,” says Norton.

Rational would like its customers who already work a SelfCookingCenter® whitefficiency® to benefit from the innovation. They can all now download a free update in ClubRATIONAL at www.club-rational.com and bring their cooking technology up to date.
