The newly renamed Northeast chapter of FCSI celebrated their 12th annual Holiday Social on 10 December, donating $15,000 to the Massachusetts non-profit organisation, Community Servings.
Held at Davio’s in downtown Boston, the sold-out event was attended by more than 100 industry colleagues and guests from the New England area and abroad. Also in attendance were Community Servings’ CEO, David B. Waters and VP, development & communications, Tim Leahy.
“We are so grateful for our partnership with Colburn & Guyette and the Northeast chapter of FCSI for their support of Community Servings’ food and nutrition programme at their annual holiday social,” said Waters. “It’s thanks to the generosity of others, especially at this time of year, that we are able to feed 1,600 sick neighbours and their families year-round.”
Community Servings is a food and nutrition programme that provides services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families who are living with critical and chronic illnesses. Each day preparing and delivering lunch, dinner and a snack to 1,600 individuals and their families across 300 square miles through out Massachusetts. In order to meet their clients’ needs they cater to dietary restrictions, providing for 17 special diets. Not only do their clients receive nutritious and appealing meals but also the message that someone cares about them – that they have not been forgotten.
In addition to feeding the critically ill and their children, Community Servings offers on-site nutrition education programmes – where clients transitioning off their meal service can learn how to prepare and cook healthy meals on a budget – and food-service job training.
The donation made possible through the loyal and generous support of our Gold level sponsors American Panel, C.R. Peterson, Continental Refrigeration, Dave Swain Associates, E3/4Top, Halton, Hatch-Jennings, Hobart/Traulsen/Baxter, The Montague Group, True Food Service Equipment, and The Viola Group; our Silver level sponsors: Unified Brands and Univex Corporation, as well as a dozen bronze level sponsors. The Northeast Chapter of FCSI also made a sizeable contribution.
