Presented by GlobalData's Sumit Chopra and supported by Wood Stone, the webcast explored opportunities and challenges in Asia Pacific and Australasia

On Thursday 15 October 2020, FCSI broadcast the fourth and final entry in a series of live and interactive webcasts addressing how the foodservice sector is recovering in major regions of the world.

Focusing on Asia Pacific, the live webcast – kindly supported by Wood Stone Corporation – was presented by GlobalData’s director of research and analysis Sumit Chopra and hosted by Michael Jones, editorial director of FCSI’s Foodservice Consultant magazine.

The webcast, limited to the first 100 registrants to sign up for it, explored foodservice trends and inspirations across Asia and Australasia, and assessed how the lockdown has affected its major territories and sectors.

You can watch a video of the full webcast below:

Bouncing back

“In terms of market size, Asia Pacific is one of the largest [foodservice] regions,” says Chopra. “So, Asia is also the most impacted region by Covid, with almost $380 bn in terms of sales lost. This pain point will continue for the next 12-24 months. Having said that, it’s a rapidly changing environment. With a vaccine coming – or new technology to help the foodservice industry – the bounce back could be a lot faster.”
