Foodservice equipment market set to hit $71bn by 2033

The steady rise in commercial kitchens and serious growth in tourism contribute to a foodservice equipment market on the rise, according to a new report from Grand View Research

A foodservice equipment market analysis report by Grand View Research outlines the state of the foodservice equipment market, as it forecasts future growth and areas of opportunities and limitations.

The report, Food Service Equipment Market (2026 – 2033) covers 22 countries. It values the global foodservice equipment market at USD 41.5bn in 2025 and projects a growth from USD 44.4bn in 2026 to USD 71.1bn by 2033. Asia Pacific dominated the global market, accounting for the largest revenue share of 37.4% in 2025. The market has rapidly evolved driven by changes in customers’ needs for outfitting their kitchen spaces.

Globally, the growing foodservice and hospitality sectors, including restaurants, cafes, and catering, has accelerated market expansion.

The full service restaurant (FSR) segment led the market and accounted for a revenue share of 43.0% in 2025  – full service restaurants need specialized equipment to handle diverse menus, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality food preparation.

The quick service restaurant (QSR) segment is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.1% from 2026 to 2033 in terms of revenue. This sector’s growth is fuelled by improvements in the food delivery services to meet the growing demand for ready-to-eat meals, particularly as a significant portion of the global population consists of busy working professionals.

Appetite for advanced and innovative equipment

One of the key drivers, as cited by the report, is persistent labor shortages, which are leading operators to implement multi-functional equipment, reducing human involvement while ensuring service quality is increasingly in demand. Stricter health and safety regulations are also driving the need for advanced equipment, such as warewashing and storage solutions, to ensure hygiene and prevent contamination.

The expansion of QSR and cloud kitchens requires standardized and high-efficiency equipment to meet the growing demand and innovations such as sensors in appliances for real-time monitoring and the focus on advanced technology solutions have become essential in transforming the commercial kitchen to meet current needs.

The continued increase in the number of foodservice establishment means that this appetite for equipment innovation will continue and present strong growth opportunities for the sector.

Similarly, the spike in delivery food and takeout, seen in recent years has further caused a need to adapt. The rise of QSR and fast-casual chains highlight the need for efficient kitchen equipment to manage high-volume operations. Consumer preferences for dining out and ordering takeout and a shift towards gourmet and healthy food options, further fuel the demand for advanced cooking and preparation technologies to enhance food quality and efficiency.

Linked to the booming off-premises food trend, is a genuine boost to the food holding and storing equipment segment, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.8% from 2026 to 2033 in terms of revenue. The increasing demand for takeout, delivery, and pre-packaged meals has amplified the need for efficient food storage solutions to preserve freshness and quality.

Among the significant limitations for operators looking to expand or upgrade are the high initial investment and considerable maintenance costs that new foodservice equipment represent. They are both factors that limit small and medium-sized operators in how far they can go with investing in new equipment.

Supply chain issues and resulting price volatility due to global events are likely to continue to feature while regulations around energy efficiency, food safety and sustainability further add barriers to adoption.

Around the world

While steady growth was observed in both North America and Europe, the Asia Pacific foodservice equipment market dominated the global market, accounting for the largest revenue share.

The report points to the growing westernization of dining habits and tourism expansion in countries such as Singapore, Malayasia, Indonesia and Australia as some of the market drivers in the region. A growing interest in diverse cuisines and, in some cases, higher disposable incomes are encouraging dining out and thus driving demand for equipment.

Perhaps of little surprise, China is the dominating country in Asia Pacific with the largest revenue share in the last year. A growing middle class and development of food service franchises from overseas chains are both factors at play here and operators are investing in more advanced cooking and storage equipment to meet demand.

Alongside China, India is highlighted as a fast growing market for much the same reasons – a proliferation of QSR restaurants, cloud kitchens and foodservice chains in urban areas alongside a growing preference for dining out.

Middle East and Africa is similarly on the rise propelled by the rapid expansion of hospitality, tourism and QSR restaurant. Within this market, Saudi Arabia is highlighted as accounting for a large share of regional demand. Expansion of hotels, restaurants, and cloud kitchen formats, along with increasing focus on energy-efficient and technologically advanced kitchen solutions, is boosting market demand.

In Latin America the report expects CAGR to continue to grow steadily over the forecast period. Growing economies and increasing disposable incomes mean people are more likely to dine out while busy lifestyles make this a necessity as there is reduced time for home cooking. Within Latin America the equipment market in Brazil is undergoing steady growth. As in other parts of the world, expansion of QSR restaurants (QSRs) and casual dining chains is driving demand for efficient, durable, and energy-saving equipment.

As the foodservice market continues to evolve, the demand for more innovation on the equipment manufacturing sector is unlikely to slow.
