Taste Portugal London has been heralded by its organisers as the English capital’s ‘most exciting food event’. Held between October 2014 and March 2015, Taste Portugal London is an initiative run by the Portuguese Tourist Board and will showcase the Iberia’s finest cuisine and wine, prepared by a host of Michelin-starred chefs.

London is already home to some of Portugal’s most creative and high-profile chefs, most notably Nuno Mendes, whose Chiltern Firehouse restaurant continues to be the capital’s hottest culinary destination – attracting both rave reviews and high-profile celebrities through its doors.

Justin Ultee, the head co-ordinator of the project, conceived Taste Portugal London having seen London becoming “increasingly seduced and fascinated by the innovation and variety that Portuguese cuisine and wine provides”.

Tradition meets fusion

Classic dishes and ingredients will form a central part of Taste Portugal London with cataplana, clams, percebes and sea urchins, amongst some of the must-try delicacies. Portugal’s finest ports and wines will also be on show, allowing participants to sample a new range of produce little known to the UK market and experience the flavours of Portugal through gourmet dinners, specialist cooking demonstrations, presentations, workshops and wine tastings.

The Taste Portugal London programme includes:

  • An opening gala dinner with Brett Graham at The Ledbury on 13th October 2014
  • A London street-food safari with Nuno Mendes (Chiltern Firehouse) and José Avillez (Belcanto, Lisbon) on 2nd December 2014

Tickets to these events are available to purchase on the Taste London website
