Food hubs and hybrid spaces are driving next F&B phase
Hybrid spaces combining food, retail, hospitality, work, and leisure are gaining momentum as developers move away from single-purpose environments, according to a report by TGP International. The report highlights food hubs and markets as key anchors within mixed-use developments, serving as social, cultural, and commercial destinations whilst helping drive footfall and establish neighborhood identity. In the US, the food hub and market sector has grown by nearly 9% annually since 2020, according to IBISWorld, Food Halls & Market Halls in the US – Industry Report, 2025, with similar expansion taking place across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Atlantic Suites Hotel in Guyana joins the Hyatt portfolio
Hyatt Hotels Corporation and RJR Investments & Holdings Inc. has announced that Atlantic Suites Hotel has joined the Hyatt portfolio as an affiliated hotel, marking the first Hyatt affiliated hotel in Guyana, and one of the first international hotel brands in Guyana as one of the world’s fastest growing economies, reports the FT. In 2028, the Atlantic Suites Hotel is expected to be integrated with a newly constructed tower to create Hyatt Regency Georgetown Guyana. The ~$50 million development project will significantly expand the property’s capacity and amenities and introduce a full-service Hyatt Regency experience to the market.

McDonald’s, Shake Shack, Wendy’s leaders to headline Australia’s biggest QSR conference in Sydney
Senior executives from McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Shake Shack will appear onstage as featured speakers at the QSR Media Conference & Awards 2026, powered by Red Bull, which will be held on 12 October at the Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park Hotel in Sydney, Australia, with its annual awards ceremony. The one-day event will bring together restaurant operators, industry leaders, and executives from across the quick-service restaurant sector for a program of keynote presentations, panel discussions, and networking sessions.
Jollibee net profit slips 13.3% in H1
Jollibee Food Corporation reported a net income profit decrease of 13.3% in H1 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to its latest bourse filing. System-wide sales grew 12.4%, whilst revenues grew 9.9% in the half-year. However, operating income went down 7.1% whilst earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and EBITDA climbed 1.6%. The group, however, reported a much better performance than last quarter, with NIAT increasing by 130.5%. Consolidated revenues increased by 12.2% versus Q1 2026, supporting a 25.3% increase in gross profit and a 56.1% increase in operating income.

KFC opens restaurant in Stratford-Upon-Avon under new design
KFC has opened a restaurant in the historic Stratford-upon-Avon, a medieval market town in England’s West Midlands known as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Opening on 10 August, the restaurant opened on August 10, serves KFC’s full menu and has created 50 new jobs. The restaurant also features KFC’s newest design fit-outs, including seating for 102 guests, as well as four digital ordering kiosks for grab and go. There will also be a dedicated waiting area for delivery drivers, with delivery available from day one via Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Wales’ two-Michelin-star restaurant has top hygiene score rating restored following one-star rating
Wales’ only two-Michelin-star restaurant, Ynyshir, received a one-star food hygiene rating after inspectors found flies, broken equipment and a dirty knife. It has since had its top score restored, since it was ordered to stop serving raw lobster after Ceredigion council had found “significant hazards” were not properly identified. The council has now awarded it a hygiene rating of five after it found the “business had addressed all matters identified during the original inspection”.
