InSinkErator’s PowerRinse Scoops Major Award at Gulfood

The award-winning PowerRinse Waste Collection System is set to improve kitchen efficiency in hospitality sector

InSinkErator, a business unit of Emerson the inventor and the world’s largest manufacturer of food waste disposers for home and commercial use, has been awarded the ‘Best New Foodservice Innovation’ at the seventh edition of the Gulfood Awards for its PowerRinse Waste Collection System.

The innovation, set to increase pre-rinse and scrapping speed in industrial kitchens while reducing bulk waste without grinding, was also named the finalist in ‘Best Environmental Sustainability Initiative’ and ‘Best New Catering Equipment Innovation’ categories.

Mohamed Karam, senior business development manager, for InSinkErator Middle East said: “This award is a great recognition from the industry of our innovation that will transform the operational efficiency of kitchens in the hospitality sector. We are keen grow our partnerships in this regard and boost the efficiency of waste management processes employed by small and big businesses alike.”

The PowerRinse Waste Collection System was launched the state-of-the-art PowerRinse Waste Collection System at Gulfood, the world’s largest annual food and hospitality trade show, taking place between 21-25 February 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“Our latest innovation will undoubtedly boost operational efficiency in the hospitality sector. The system achieves this by increasing pre-rinse and scrapping speed, while reducing bulk waste without grinding. It is important that we acknowledge waste management as an important aspect in the growth of the Middle East hotel industry that is witnessing substantial infrastructure investment in the lead up to major events such as Expo 2020 and 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar,” said Karam.

With PowerRinse, scrapping and pre-rinsing can be accomplished in one step prior to dishwashing. Allowing the convenience of using both hands to scrap dishes with the recirculated water, operators can easily cut the time it takes to clear dishes. Solid waste is collected in a scrap basket, while water-soluble waste is harmlessly sent down the drain, reducing the amount of waste requiring haul-off from the operator. With the smallest screen size in the industry, PowerRinse ensures more food waste is captured, and less ends up down the drain. The system also consumes 50% less fresh water per hour than other collector systems on the market and can be used in conjunction with compost programs or as an alternative to disposer and pulper system as the collected solids can be emptied into a waste or compost receptacle.

Designed to maximize available workspace, the cover fits over the scrap basket, providing a smooth, level surface for scrapping and pre-soaking problem dishes with baked-on or difficult to remove food. With an aim to maximize productivity at the dishwashing station and meet customer demand across scale, the system is available in two models: the Standard (Model PRS) – sized for everyday applications and the Pot/Pan (Model PRP) – the increased tray width provides dishwashers additional workspace for oversized cookware, such as large sheet pans.

Easy to service, maintain and install, the system units are pre-plumbed and pre-wired, with a direct connection to hot and cold water, electricity and drains. Components are also dishwasher safe. Along with the PowerRinse Waste Collection System, InSinkErator also displayed its entire portfolio of food waste disposers and waste reduction system at its stand at Gulfood.
