Recognized Professionalism
It's a fact: clients searching for consultants look first to the professional organizations representing these specialists. Like other qualifying groups, members of FCSI have access to work that is often not available to non-members. Recent examples include RFPs for a new U.S. Army Commissary in Afghanistan and a new United Nation’s facility in Bonn, Germany, both of which are only open to bidders who are FCSI Professional members.
Annual Conference and Educational Seminars
FCSI Conferences and Educational Seminars ensure members get the most for their membership.
Website
FCSI's website provides you with easy access to Society information, including updated conference information and online registration forms. With the membership directory online, you will find the most updated information, with e-mail and website links of fellow members. Potential clients can now find you through the online directory or by way of the "Request for a Consultant" form located on the site. Recent innovations include hyperlinks to members' websites. The members-only listserver giver you a forum for posting questions or comments on current topics of interest.
On-line Discussion Forum
FCSI Discussion Forums, which are on-line discussion groups, have been created in the members only portion of this web site as a member benefit. The discussion forum provides an opportunity for posting questions or comments on current topics of interest. Members can subscribe or unsubscribe to this service through the FCSI website.
Referral Service
Through the use of a sophisticated database, FCSI staff can accurately match consultants with potential customers. This service provides clients with instant access to consultants by specific geographical areas and by specific disciplines.
Trade Show Participation
FCSI exhibits at a number of industry trade shows globally throughout the year, promoting both membership in FCSI and the benefits of hiring FCSI consultant members. Members are encouraged to learn more about their association, as well as meet other FCSI members and staff by volunteering to help represent FCSI at these shows.
Networking
FCSI coordinates a network of professionals for the purpose of education and the exchange of ideas. This invaluable resource of individuals in foodservice consulting is unparalleled in the industry. FCSI members have the opportunity to learn from one another and tap into an immense pool of expertise.
Intra-Industry Alliances
FCSI has formed affiliations with other Allied Professional groups serving the foodservice and hospitality industries. FCSI is in close contact with all operator/client-driven organizations. Many of these associations invite our members to participate in programs, seminars and other events.
Annual Business Meeting
The yearly business meeting provides members with the opportunity to interface with the association's leadership and make their views and concerns known.
Mailing Lists
Manufacturers and service suppliers are anxious to have FCSI consultant members know their products. Many of the major suppliers are Corporate Members and receive our Membership Directory for use in distributing information.
Public Relations
FCSI has a full-time director of public relations on staff, and our members and their activities are regularly recognized in the industry press. In addition, FCSI also advertises in key publications which benefits everyone with all members automatically sharing the spotlight.
Committees/Task Forces
An excellent way to participate in the Society and take an active role is to serve on an FCSI committee or task force. Committees and task forces are formed to accomplish long-term and short-term projects.
Speakers Bureau
To help promote both individual members and the Society as a whole, our Speakers Bureau is able to connect groups interested in hearing from experts with those members willing to make presentations.
Local Units, Chapters and Regions
FCSI has established offices and interest groups around the world. These permit frequent contact among members with a minimal investment of time and money.
Society Publications
The Consultant is FCSI's first-rate quarterly magazine featuring the latest member and Society news, profiles of member projects and reports on new trends and techniques. Each must-read issue contains many articles submitted by members and other recognized professionals in the foodservice industry.
The FCSI Membership Directory, published electronically on an annually basis, is your easy reference to fellow Society members and provides information that can be used to identify consultants for potential partnering opportunities. The directory is also available to foodservice operators upon request.
Awards
Award for Excellence
Each year the Society presents awards to consultant members in recognition of outstanding consulting projects. These awards are judged by a recognized panel of member peers.

This award recognizes Corporate Members of FCSI who have demonstrated exceptional innovation in research and development. The award salutes the company for best satisfying the foodservice industry's needs and contributing to the overall effectiveness in the areas of safety, operation and/or efficiency in customer service.
The FCSI Service Award
This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated throughout the year extraordinary efforts in contributing to the betterment of the Society through dedication, commitment, loyalty, creativity, and enthusiastic service.
The Trendsetter Award
Presented in even years, this award is presented to an individual who best exemplifies innovation, creativity and unique and lasting contributions to the foodservice industry.
The Green Award
Presented each year, the Green Award honors firms or individuals in the foodservice and hospitality industry who have created an innovative environmental operation or product that has improved the environmental standards and conditions of the operation or industry as a whole.
The Consultant Awards
All contributions to The Consultant deserve recognition, but each year two authors are selected for special honors. Awards are presented at the Annual Conference for the best articles published in the preceding year by a consultant member and by an allied member.
Continuing Professional Growth Program
FCSI is committed to education - and clients are looking for consultants who stay on the cutting edge. That is why all FCSI Professional members are required to accumulate 30 continuing education units (CEUs) over a three year period. The three year period begins and ends on the same day for every Professional Member. Professional members who join FCSI in the middle of a three year period will start the Continuing Professional Growth Program on January 1 of the following year and are required to accumulate 10 CEUs each year remaining in the three year cycle. There are many ways in which Professional members are able to acquire CEUs. For example, CEUs are given for attending seminars and trade shows, writing articles, making presentations and successfully completing modules of the FCSI Professional Competency Exam where local exams exist. This is just one more way FCSI puts value in the "FCSI" initials after Professional members' names.
