Mafsi announces biennial award receipients

Last week The Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry (MAFSI) released the winners of its biennial MAFSI award at the 2016 Business Development Conference in Phoenix

The MAFSI biennial award program properly recognises those individuals who have performed in an exemplary fashion, and serve as recognition to ensure the future success and professionalism of the association, and the industry.

Nine MAFSI members, one MAFSI chapter, and two non-members were presented with the following six awards for their demonstrated leadership, as nominated by their peers.

Lifetime membership award
A person who has been a member of MAFSI for at least 10 years, who has contributed to the foodservice industry through significant association involvement. This year’s award was presented to:

  • Elliot Horowitz, Elliot Horowitz Associates, MAFSI Region 03 – New York Metro

Honorary member award
Given to a person or persons who is a non-member of the association, but has contributed substantially to MAFSI over an extended period of time. This year’s award was presented to:

  • Tedde and Jim Reid, Supply & Equipment Foodservice Alliance (SEFA), LLC

Special recognition award
Awarded to MAFSI agent members for their leadership and exemplary contributions to the success of their regional chapter. Two individuals earned this year’s distinction, and were presented to:

  • Chris Jeens, W.D. Colledge Co., Ltd., MAFSI Region 26 – Canada
  • Melissa Greenwald, Zink Foodservice, MAFSI Region 07 – Mid-America

Bill Loveless chapter of the year award
Given as encouragement and recognition for exceptional achievement as a MAFSI regional chapter, as active and effective chapters are needed to achieve MAFSI’s goals and further the mission and vision of the association. This year’s award was presented to:

  • MAFSI Region 03 – New York Metro

Market mover award
Given to individuals/organisations from associate/manufacturer member companies who – through individual/organizational action, achievement, and philosophy – have demonstrated leadership qualities that are significant to the advancement of the representative function and foodservice industry. One individual and one organisation earned this year’s distinction, and was presented to:

  • Greg Elliott, National Sales Manager, Chill-Rite Manufacturing
  • Ali Group North America

MAFSI pacesetter award
Awarded to individuals who work for MAFSI agent member companies only, for demonstrating the highest degree of devotion and distinguished service in conjunction with MAFSI projects and activities. This year’s awards were presented to three individuals:

  • Larry Cantamessa, Posternak Bauer Aitkenhead Cantamessa, MAFSI Region 03 – New York Metro
  • Joe Ferri, Pecinka Ferri Associates, MAFSI Region 03 – New York Metro
  • Carl Kisner, Ignite Foodservice Solutions, MAFSI Region 20 – Mountain States North

MAFSI tony award
This is MAFSI’s summit award, named in honor of Anthony E. Mazur, and is bestowed upon an individual MAFSI (agent) member who has consistently performed and demonstrated sincere interest, effort, and leadership and has given time to the welfare and progress of MAFSI and the enhancement of the manufacturers’ agents’ function and position in the industry. This year’s award was presented to:

  • Danny Collis, Collis Group Inc, MAFSI Region 26 – Canada
