FCSI UK & Ireland members visit London’s Mercato Metropolitano

70+ foodservice consultants, caterers and equipment suppliers attended FCSI UK&I’s first major networking event of 2017

More than 70 foodservice consultants, caterers and equipment suppliers attended the FCSI UK & Ireland’s first major networking event of the year on Wednesday 15 March 2017. Held at Mercato Metropolitano – an Italian food market in central London – attendees were given a guided tour of the food stalls and bars, the open air street market, on-site farm shop and the venue’s own community kitchen.

Guests also got the chance to sample a range of fine Italian food and wine at the event, which was sponsored by Harrison Catering, C&C Catering Equipment and Retigo.

Going local

Mercato Metropolitano was created by Andrea Rasca who is also involved with the Eataly food market restaurants located in New York, Rome, Dubai and Tokyo, and focuses on small scale farmers, local producers and the local community.

“The tour was a fantastic opportunity for FCSI members – consultants, caterers and foodservice equipment manufacturers alike – to network with each other, says Stuart Charlton, publisher of FCSI’s Foodservice Consultant magazine.

“It was great to see so many participants and such a high engagement amongst FCSI UK & Ireland members. The event was particularly well organised and the venue was outstanding. Mercato Metropolitano is such an impressive operation and exactly the kind of forward-thinking venture that reflects the progressive work FCSI consultants are doing,” he says.
