HISTORY & PURPOSE

The Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) Educational Foundation was established in 1995 when its parent organization, FCSI, recognized the need for furthering education in the foodservice consulting industry. As an independent, non-profit corporation, separate from its parent group, the FCSI Educational Foundation works to benefit the FCSI membership as well as the general public. This is achieved through scholarship funding, student attendance at the FCSI Annual Conference, research projects, and involvement in foodservice consulting issues.

FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES The FCSI Educational Foundation solicits and administers charitable contributions, endowments and gifts. Current sources of funding are the silent auction held each year during the FCSI Annual Conference and regional special events. Also, annual fundraising and other programs provide members and friends the opportunity to support the Foundation's activities. For more information regarding current fundraising programs, please contact Foundation Headquarters at 519-856-0783.

Suggestions for fund raising should be sent to scott@fcsi.org

DONATIONS

The FCSI Educational Foundation accepts cash donations. These funds are used for the support and administration of the Foundation's programs. The FCSI Educational Foundation is registered as a 501 (c) (3) corporation and, as such, provides an opportunity for FCSI members and the public at large to support these programs with tax-deductible contributions. Donations can be restricted to support specific programs, or for use in a specific country or region.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

FCSI is proud to help the next generation of professional consultants. With this in mind, the Educational Foundation scholarship program was developed. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, enthusiasm, creativity and potential future in the foodservice/hospitality industry. Student scholarships are awarded in amounts starting at $1,000 up to $5,000 for an academic year. To apply for an FCSI scholarship you must meet the following requirements:
1. Currently enrolled in a baccalaureate-degreed program (minimum two years completed) or graduate program with hospitality/foodservice as your major.
2. Maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in your major.
3. Have completed an internship with a foodservice consulting firm.

Applications are mailed in the Spring, with awards announced in June and actual funds mailed in August. Click here to learn about scholarship requirements and instructions.

STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST

Each year, in an attempt to promote foodservice consulting, FCSI contacts educational institutions that maintain a program that focuses on the foodservice industry. Any student currently enrolled in a curriculum that centers on foodservice may enter an annual essay contest. A panel of judges is selected to choose the best written essay using established criteria. The students selected are awarded with an all-expense-paid trip to the FCSI Annual Conference, funded by the Educational Foundation and see their essays published in The Consultant magazine.

 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Many curricula in educational foodservice programs require a student to complete an internship or externship. While the intern/extern program may be mandatory and perhaps deemed necessary for graduation, the student may need financial assistance with room and board during the intern/extern period. Grants will be awarded in the amount of $400/week ($4,000 maximum) and will be paid directly to the host firm. Identify a foodservice consulting firm you would like to intern with and tell them these funds are available. The application must come from the firm. All foodservice consulting firms are eligible to apply.
