Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) came into being in 1979 through the amalgamation of two North American associations, founded in 1955 and 1958 respectively. FCSI is the only worldwide association of professional consultants and has more than 1,000 members in 40 countries with divisions in Europe, Asia and North America. FCSI EUROPE, itself, has more than 360 members, and since an increasing number of skilled specialists from Switzerland continued to join, it was eventually decided, in 1999, to establish a "local" association under the European and worldwide overall control of FCSI.
